DJ Name: Han
Show Name: Hangin’ with Han
Show Genre: Indie/Alternative Rock
Year/Major: In my 4th year in the 5 year English Ed program at the Graduate School of Education
What made you want to join The Core? I’ve always loved music and I thought this would be a fun way to do what I love and meet cool people. (Also my narcissistic desire to share my taste in music with the world ... or at least the five people listening at any given time ... usually just my best friends and my mom.)
What’s the meaning behind your show's name? I just wanted to make my listeners feel cozy and comfy while they’re listening in, like we’re just hangin’ out together :’)
How are you involved at The Core? I’m on music staff and I’m also the Operations Administrator so I take notes at the meetings and run errands for the station.
Tell us a little about what artists/bands you've been listening to recently. Recently I’ve been listening to Tame Impala’s new album (so good) and always listening to Beach House and Beirut as they’re my consistently favorite bands.
What has been your favorite experience as a DJ? I loved attending Corefest last year. It was really cool to attend such an intimate show with artists and bands like Gabby’s World and The Greeting Committee. It’s also what made me want to get more involved at the station and join exec staff. Definitely come out to Corefest this year; it’s sure to be a good time!
Any advice for prospective DJs? Join! Even if you’re nervous; I swear you’ll be glad you did! It’s so fun and rewarding—definitely worth the pre-show jitters that will likely disappear after your first couple shows.
